In Loving Memory

In early 2025, the final member of The Gollman 10 transitioned. In addition to being a wonderful friend, Vancilla Gollman-Williams was a wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. Vancilla was the baby sister of my grandfather Wilmer Sr. My father and the five of us were reared with unwavering affection by Vancilla and her husband, Donald Williams Sr. Vancilla cherished exquisite flowers, sunflowers were one of her favorite flowers. For a number of years, Vancilla cultivated sunflowers in her backyard. Vaniclla was as bright and pleasant as a sunflower, as welcoming and upbeat as the summer sun. Strong and devoted, they both stand for endurance. Vancilla spent forty years working as a teacher. For her, teaching was like breathing. The life lessons that Vancilla imparted in us are like seeds. She has sown the seeds of sunflowers within us. We passed them on to our children and our children's children. Thus, we may water them and observe their growth. She was my heart and my grandmother. Having her in my life, and ultimately being in hers, was a privilege and a blessing. She chose to love and care for us, and for that I am truly grateful. Thank you Grandma, Love You Always.
