James Gollman (1924-2012)
James was born on October 1, 1924, in Punta Gorda, FL the eighth child to Mack & Illinois Gollman. James enjoyed body building and was in great physical shape even in his old age. He also enjoyed driving sports cars. James joined the U.S. Army at 18 years old on 5 Jun 1942 during his senior year of high school and served in World War II. Upon returning from the war his mother made him go back to school to finish his high school diploma. He was 21 years old riding the school bus from Punta Gorda, FL to Dunbar High School in Ft. Myers, FL with his baby sister Vancilla. James would go on and graduate from Bethune Cookman University and receive two master’s degrees from Columbia University in New York City. James married Virgia Lee Daniels of Avon Park, FL on 20 Aug 1951. James retired as an educator in the Brevard County School System. James passed on 4 Dec 2012 at the age of 88 years old and was buried in Tampa, FL.
